Learn the natural benefits of Herbal Medicine and how it has become my passion.

The field of medical treatment has advanced in a lot of ways. Now we have treatments that take less than a minute to be effective. There are modern ways of treating diseases while things like injections wave also developed in so many ways. However, the old way of medical treatment is still alive. It is because of the benefits that come with it.

Although this is now rarely found, different organisations are still working to keep traditional herbal medicine still alive. Apart from the numerous benefits of herbal medicine, one great thing about herbal medicine is that they do not have a lot of side effects like allopathic medicine.

My personal relations with herbal medicine and natural ways of healing started many years ago when I was a child. From the age of three I have been diagnosed with severe asthma and pretty much grew up in hospitals. For those that don't know that asthma is a chronic (long-term) condition that affects the airways in the lungs. The airways become inflamed and narrowed at times which makes difficult to breath. It, pretty much, feels like someone is sitting on your chest and throat and trying to suffocate you.

At my age, there weren't any inhalers, that we have now, and not very much treatments at all. Except, to be taken to the emergency unit and be connected to an oxygen machine and pumped with a lots of different (sometimes irrelevant) medications.

But I am not here to complain, I want to say that this situation gave my family and myself (when older) a great stimulus to research endless other treatment possibilities that are less harmful and intrusive. It gave me my first knowledge and passion for alternative-holistic medicine. Breathing exercise to increase lungs capacity and herbal medicine has been my go-to treatments for years since. Let’s go back to herbal medicine knowledge.

Here we will discuss herbal medicine and its natural benefits.

How are herbal medicines made and used?

There are different herbs which are plucked from the ground, some plants, their stems, leaves, seeds, and flowers are also used. These things that are used in the treatment are taken and some are dried while others are used as it is. Most of the herbal medicine is converted into the paste form or it is dried out to convert it into granules or powder. These are then added to our daily food intake. Some of the leaves are also taken as tea. This is my favourite use of herbs. Although this methodology seems to be outdated, this works great because of the following benefits.

• Most of the herbal medicine items are fresh.

• The herbal medicine items do not have any added chemicals.

• As there is no special processing or additive chemicals, these medicines do not have any side effects.

And I have to say, here I have an advantage, you see, my family has been aware of the benefits of herbs and passed this information from generation to generation. This includes my both grandmothers and my mum. With my mum's knowledge of herbs and my father as a biologist, I grew up in the family that knew and loved nature. But the best most thorough education on plants and their recognition I received when studying for my Ecology degree and multiple sources on Herbalism.

Here I will share with you a tinny bit of my knowledge and hope to strike your interest too.
